James Lafayette Blocker, age 80, a McMinnville, TN resident and Columbia, TN native was born August 6, 1939 and passed away November 25, 2019 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired superintendent with Apac Construction, and a member of the St. Mary's Church of Christ , he was the son of the late Howard Cleveland and Julia Rebecca Trimble Blocker. He was also preceded in death by son-in-law, William Brewer and mother-in-law, Melba Barnes Hillis. He was married January 12, 1985 to Brenda Faye Hillis Blocker. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons and daughter-in law, Chip Blocker of Nashville, TN and Bryce (Stacey) Blocker of Manchester, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa Matson of Orlando, FL, Nancy (Brian) Egan of Hendersonville, TN, Angela (Tim) Basso of St. Petersburg, Fl, and Monica Brewer of McMinnville, TN; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and one brother Tony (Jayne) Blocker of Joelton, TN. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Hebron Cemetery with Greg Rains officiating.
