McMinnville, TN resident and DeKalb County, TN native James Larkin Cantrell, age 84, was born November 17, 1934 and died April 13, 2019 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Cantrell was an employee of Powermatic for 35 years. He was a long-time member of Salem Church of Christ and a current member of Arlington Church of Christ. He was a life-long resident of the Midway Community. He was a loving father, husband and pa. He was the son of the late Thomas Plez and Ressie Cope Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard and Wallon Cantrell; and two grandsons, Nicky and Chris Turner. He was married on July 14, 1956 to Dorothy Jean Drake Cantrell. In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by four children and spouses, Teresa and Kelvin Turner of Milford, KS, Renee and Darl Smith of the Centertown Community; Thomas and Debbie Cantrell of the Centertown Community; and Tim Cantrell of McMinnville; seven grandchildren and spouses, Larkin Turner, Jacob and Kristin Smith, Jessica and Daniel Jones, T.J. and Alex Cantrell, Tyler Cantrell, Hillary Hollis Hale, and Haley and Tyler Glenn; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Hansel Cantrell of McMinnville; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019 in High's Chapel with Jon Simmons and Randal Gann officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at High's.
