James Leon Walker, age 59, a McMinnville, TN resident and Putnam County, TN native was born November 9, 1961 and died January 5, 2021 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following a sudden illness. He was a machine operator with MPC, a member of the Pentecostal faith, and the son of the late Thomas Ray Walker and Thelma Ruth Tosh Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepfather, Arnold Phillips; brother, Kenny Walker; and brothers-in-law, Tony Lawson, and Bobby Cherry. Mr. Walker was married April 24, 1999 to Wanda Cherry Walker of McMinnville, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Brian Walker, Dustin Cherry, Allen Pack (Tammy), and Amber McCarty (Chase Poisson); several grandchildren; sisters, Kathy Lemieu, and Sheila (Joe) Denson; brothers, Earl (Sharon) Walker, Ricky (Marilyn) Walker, Jonathan Walker, and Bobby Walker; aunt, Geraldine Walker Cooper; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Lawson, Patricia (Robert) Fuller, Linda (Morris) Hillis, and Sheila (Steve) Greer; and mother-in-law, Mary Helen Cherry. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2021 in High’s Chapel.
