Warren County, TN resident and native James Paul Cantrell, age 88, was born March 1, 1935 and died peacefully in his sleep on January 30, 2024 at Tennessee State Veterans Home in Murfreesboro, TN following an extended illness.
A United States Air Force veteran of Korea and Vietnam, veteran administration retiree and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Charles Dalton and Elsie Knight Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Donald Cantrell and sister, Reba Prater.
Mr. Cantrell was married to Margaret Fields Cantrell of Bell Buckle, TN on December 27, 1977. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Jamie (Matthew) Stanford of Franklin, TN; sons, James Paul (Kathryn) Cantrell, II of Collierville, TN, Robert Lyle Cantrell of Murfreesboro, TN and Dalton Fields Cantrell of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Seamas, Liam, Dalton, Wesley, Raylan and Nash Cantrell and R.J., Margaret and Elizabeth Stanford; one great-grandchild; sister, Joyce Madison of McMinnville, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024 in High’s Chapel with Cody Boston officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at High Funeral Home.
Full military honors will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrier Project.
