McMinnville, TN resident and Jackson County, TN native James Ray Bennett, age 82, was born November 13, 1939 and died May 4, 2022 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN following an extended illness. A TN Army National Guard veteran, retired concrete finisher and custodian and member of Central Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Lewis and Katherine Slatton Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a dedicated volunteer with Central Church of Christ Benevolence Program. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Heath Bennett; brother, Jerry Bennett; infant sister and brother-in-law, Eddie Pack. Mr. Bennett is survived by two children, Eric (Candy) Bennett of Brunswick, GA and Kim (Eric) Goforth of McMinnville, TN; three grandchildren, Beth (Zack) Wanamaker of Clarksville, TN, Kennedy Goforth of McMinnville, TN and Destiny Domzalski of Brunswick, GA; great-grandson, Tabias Wanamaker; brother, Thurman (Hazel) Bennett of McMinnville, TN; sister, Margia Pack of McMinnville, TN; former wife, Elizabeth Bennett of McMinnville, TN and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2022 in High’s Chapel with Ben Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville, TN.
