McMinnville, TN resident and White County native James Wesley Sherrell, age 81, was born March 12, 1943 and died January 1, 2025 at his residence following a brief illness.
A veteran of the TN Army National Guard, retired employee of A.O. Smith and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Ella Flatt Sherrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Velma Jackson and lifelong companion, Mary Jeanette Deason.
Mr. Sherrell is survived by children, Darron (Carrie) Sherrell and Shannon Gannon both of McMinnville; grandchildren, Kacie (Kyle) White, Seth (Cydnie) Looper, Ethan Cantrell, Caylie Sherrell (Austin Harris) and Wesley Sherrell; great-grandchildren, Kylan, Khloe and Kyson; sister, Rosie (Levon) Maynard of Sparta, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025 in High’s Chapel with Danny Barnes and Fernando Rocha to officiate. Full military honors will be administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Interment will follow at Old Zion Cemetery in White County. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at High’s.
