Grundy County, TN resident and McMinnville, TN native Janice Sue Barrett, age 74, was born January 10, 1950 and left this life on February 16, 2024 after an extended illness. A homemaker, retired teacher with the Grundy County School System and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Felton Lerris and Melba Nadine Taylor Rhea. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Tony Rhea; paternal grandparents Ben and Gertrude Rhea; maternal grandparents Lester and Maude Taylor; Uncles L.A. (Goldie) Taylor, Foster (Edna) Taylor and Houston Taylor and special cousin Ann Milstead. Mrs. Barrett is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ed Barrett of Grundy County. In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Jason (Melisha) Barrett; grandchildren, Rhealee and Corwinn Barrett; brother, Jeff Rhea; brother and sister-in-law, Lance (Sandy) Stotts; sister-in-law, Nancy Rhea; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randall (Faye) Barrett and Gerald (Jana) Barrett; special friends from school, Teresa London, Vickilon Hefley, Judy Tittsworth and Judy Myers; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2024 in High’s Chapel with Pastor Michael Harris and Bishop Aaron Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in Northcutts Cove Cemetery in Grundy County. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at High’s.
