Smyrna, TN resident, former resident of Rock Island, TN, and Bone Cave, TN native Janiette Deaton, age 91, was born September 9, 1928 and died December 31, 2019 at Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro following a sudden illness. The store manager of Rock Island Market, a member of Campaign Church of God, and attended World Outreach in Murfreesboro, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Leon and Ethel Janie Cole Yates. She was married October 3, 1949 to H.G. Deaton who preceded her in death on January 25, 2000. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Doris Rae Dryden; sister, Nina Deaton; and son-in-law, John Michael Dryden. She is survived by two grandchildren and spouses, John Matthew and Tammy Dryden of Smyrna, TN and Jason Michael and Nicole Dryden of Murfreesboro, TN; five great-grandchildren, Dixie Jane Dryden, David Thomas Dryden, Daniel Cole Dryden, Elijah Scott Grisham, and Liam Michael Dryden; and nephew, Richard Allen Deaton, and numerous others. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2020 in High's Chapel with Steve Breedlove officiating. Burial will follow in McElroy Cemetery, Van Buren County, TN. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday at High's. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alive Hospice.
