Jerry Louise Nunley, age 71, a McMinnville, TN resident and Matador, TX native was born November 2, 1947 and passed away September 15, 2019 in St. Thomas West Hospital following a sudden illness. She was a homemaker, retired teacher with Brookside Head Start, member of the Church of Christ and daughter of the late Jesse David and Jeriah Beatrice Jones Spencer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, James Raymond Spencer and Jesse Glenwood Spencer. Mrs. Nunley was married August 23, 1963 to Jim Nunley, Sr. who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Jim (Julie) Nunley, Jr. of Coral, MI, daughters, Judith Louise (Todd) Carter and Jeanie Cheryl Nunley both of McMinnville; grandchildren, JoJo (Chris) McCormick, B.J. Hampton, Jessica (Neill) Simpson, Brittney (Aaron) Atherton, Myosha (Lee) Clark, Dustin Smith, Steven (Marki) Nunley, Chris (Shannan) Carter, Rebecca Smith, Riley Nunley, Luke Nunley, Josh Carter and Devin Carter; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Burkes of Soddy-Daisy; brother, J.D. Spencer, Jr. of Texas; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and thought of as a son, James Edward (Linda) Vaughn. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019 in High’s Chapel with Wayne Cantrell to officiate. Interment will follow in Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at High’s.
