Jerry Wayne Cooper

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Jerry Wayne Cooper, age 71, was born August 6, 1948 and died March 21, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Cooper was owner of Cooper Mfg., a former Tennessee State Senator from 1984-2007, and a veteran of the Tennessee National Guard. Mr. Cooper was also Tennessee Jaycee President from 1980-1981 and founder of Camp Discovery in 1983. He was the son of the late J.W. and Theonia Ruth LeFevers Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Lisa Powers Cooper on January 3, 2020. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Elisa and Barry Luna, Sally and Mike Pack and Faith and Chase McGee all of McMinnville, TN and Holly and Ward Bushart of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Raylee Pack, Carly Pack, Ty Martin, Owen McGee and Bree McGee; sister and brother-in-Law, Patricia C. and Stanley Rogers of Tullahoma, TN; nieces, Amy R. and Bill Nickels of Manchester, TN and Rachel R. and Carter Sain of Manchester, TN; nephew, Stan and Lee Rogers of Manchester, TN; several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. A graveside service and interment will be held Wednesday at Gardens of Memory Cemetery for the family. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
