Mountain Creek was a little quieter on Friday. Jesse "Michael" Betschart, age 55, a Warren County, TN resident and Yakima, WA native was born to Jesse and Dema Sue on August 13, 1966, and passed suddenly on July 15, 2022, following a cardiac event. An artist of many mediums; stone, wood, music, and laughter. Michael was a giant, from his height to his personality and on to his creative spark. An artist through and through, it would be rare to have seen him without one of his many creations nearby. If he wasn't busy scratching away at one of his carvings or droning a rhythm on his didgeridoo, he would surely have a story to make you smile. A professor in the school of “Monkey see, not monkey do”, he truly lived life his own way, making many friends along life’s road. A member of Warren County High School's class of 1984, Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Dema Sue Lee as well as her husband, Robert Edward Lee. He was also preceded in death by several aunts and uncles. He was a loving father to his daughter Erika Betschart Griffin and her husband Bo Griffin of Mt. Juliet, TN, and son Allen Michael Betschart of McMinnville, TN; and caring grandfather to two grandchildren. In addition to his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his father, Jesse Betschart of Monteagle, TN, sister and spouse, Mileah Betschart Sullivan and Larry Sullivan of Loveland, OH, and sister Lorie Betschart of Murfreesboro, TN. Several nieces and nephews, as well as special friend, Olivia Pinegar, also survive. The eagle has landed… There will be a celebration of life ceremony held at a time to be determined.
