McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Johnny D. "John Deere" Greene, age 85, was born October 7, 1932 and died May 4, 2018 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following an extended illness.A former John Deere dealer, Mr. Greene began his affiliation with John Deere in 1950. He was a member of Central Church of Christ and the son of the late George C. and Rachel Neal Greene. He was married on June 1, 1950 to Daphne Jane Cope Greene who preceded him in death on September 14, 2011. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by son, David Greene; two brothers, Alton and Kenny Greene; and two sisters, Wilma Pistole and Melba Griffith.He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Paul Matheny of Fayetteville, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Cliff and Gail Greene of McMinnville; two granddaughters and husbands, Candice and Chuck Allen of Fayetteville, TN and Heather and Jason Tabor of Buford, GA; two grandsons, Dallas and Jonathan Greene both of McMinnville; great-granddaughter, Cole Allen; two brothers and sisters-in-law, G.B. and Suzi Greene of McMinnville and Fred and Faye Greene of McMinnville; four sisters and brother-in-law, Hannah Davis, Joyce Pirtle, Linda and Jerry Davenport, and Kaye Worzek all of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Central Church of Christ with Julian Goodpaster and Ben Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at High's.Memorial contributions may be made to Orphans and Widows through Central Church of Christ or to Boyd Christian School.
