Rock Island, TN resident and Celina, TN native Joseph Wayne Key, age 74, was born September 5, 1949 and died January 19, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness. A retired machine operator with A.O. Smith and a member of Laurel Creek Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Jesse Howard and Wonnie Lee Roberts Key. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Jimmy Boyd; brothers, Phillip Key and Freddy Key and three sisters, Dorothy Cole, Jewel Cooper and Carolyn Key. He was married to Linda Key of Rock Island in 1967. In addition to his wife, Mr. Key is survived by children, Shannon Boyd of McMinnville and Joann Key and Joseph Wayne Key, Jr., both of Rock Island, TN; grandchildren, Magen Bush, Keri Swoape, Shelby Boyd Arnold, Trista Key, Cheyenne Yott, Cooper Key and Carson Key; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Andy, Nicholas, Nola, Allison, Elena and Mia; brother, Gary Lee Key of Rock Island, TN; sisters, Joy Tobbitt of McMinnville, Janie Copeland of Rickman, TN and Mary Jo Arms of Livingston, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2024 in High’s Chapel with Roy Terry officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
