Josh Carter

Smithville, TN resident and Nashville, TN native Josh Carter, age 40, was born September 28, 1983 and died January 14, 2024 at St. Thomas Dekalb Hospital in Smithville, TN following a sudden illness. An employee of Triple A Coating, he was the son of Harold Todd Carter of McMinnville and Danita (Martin) Garza of Smithville, TN. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Harold and Margaret Coppinger Carter; maternal grandfather, Robert H. Lyle; step-mother, Judy Carter and step-sister, Brittney Atherton. In addition to his parents, Josh is survived by son, Braxton Caleb Carter of McMinnville; brothers, Chris (Shannon) Carter of McMinnville and Devin Ray Carter of New Mexico; step-brother, B.J. Hampton of McMinnville; grandmother, Juanita Lyle of Smithville, TN and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 in High’s Chapel with Travis Wanamaker officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County, TN.
