Joy Virginia Stembridge, age 88, a Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County, TN native was born January 31, 1930 and died May 14, 2018 in St. Thomas West Hospital following a sudden illness.She was retired from Kingston Timers, a member of Bluff Springs Church of Christ and daughter of the late Donnie & Samantha Mitchell Redmon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Loyde “Slim” Stembridge; granddaughter, Charity Star Stembridge; brother & sister-in-law, J.B. and Ethel Redmon; sisters and brother-in-law, Lula Mae and Remus McCormick, Marie Wolf, Lucredia Brown and Pauline McCormick.Mrs. Stembridge is survived by three children, Vivian Merriman of Rock Island, Eddie (Margaret) Stembridge of Morrison and Richard (Melinda) Stembridge of Rock Island; ten grandchildren, Dawn (Bobby) Meeks, Jesse (Chasity) Merriman, Krystal Merriman, Tammy (Justin) Wilson, Brian (April) Stembridge, Michael (Katrina) Stembridge, Tina (Richard) Roberts, Jessica Meeks (Chris) Thompson, Brandon Stembridge and Travis Hawkins (Paige); twenty-eight great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three special nieces, Ann Darnbush of McMinnville, Mildred Forsyth of Beersheba Springs and Elaine Jones of Arizona; special nephew, Ralph McCormick; and several other nieces and nephews.Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 in High’s Chapel with Teddy Jones and Richard Bowman to officiate. Interment will follow in Webb Cemetery.
