Julie Marie Bates

Julie Marie Bates, age 82, a McMinnville, TN resident and Cumberland County, TN native, was born August 14, 1938 and died December 30, 2020 at her residence following an extended illness. She was a homemaker, a member of New Hope Full Gospel Church, and the daughter of the late Walter and Allie Harp Watts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, James Richard Bates; great-granddaughter, Allie Fults; great-grandson, Bentley Bates; and brothers, Eugene, Leon, and Jim Watts. Mrs. Bates is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Vickie Bates of McMinnville, TN, Harold and Sharon Bates of Morrison, TN, and Chris and Jessica Bates of the Short Mountain Community; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and David Rankhorn of Smithville, TN, and Fay and Henry Sanders of McMinnville, TN; eighteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville, TN with Jason Nunley officiating.
