McMinnville resident and Smithville, TN native Leslie Eudene “Dene” Young, age 87, was born December 26, 1936 and died suddenly October 2, 2024 at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital in Smithville, TN. 

A former employee of Rockford Textile and Warren Farmers Co-op, he was the son of the late Joseph and Effie Elizabeth Poss Young. He was married to Gloria Travis Young on October 15, 1955 who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence (Ruth), Jay (Evelyn), Lewis, Elmus (Evelyn) and B.D. Young; sisters, Mary Lou Griffin, Cleone (Hoyt) Barnes and Clessie (Don) Goodnight and son-in-law, Jack Davenport.

Mr. Young is survived by daughters, Beverly Davenport and Brenda (Mark) Whiles; grandchildren, Jason (Ladonna) Fann, Rodney (Detra) Whiles and Terra Davenport; great-grandchildren, Brittney Daniel, Noah (Odaysha) Fann, Ashton Whiles, Maggy Whiles and Jorden Dennis; great-great-grandchildren, Spencer Daniel, Emma Fann, Oregan Fann, Easton Dennis, Londyn Dennis and Reece Dennis; brother, Dillard Young; sister-in-law, Janey Young and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 in High’s Chapel with Rodney Whiles officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
