Lewis David Lamon

August 8, 1934 — January 17, 2021

McMinnville, TN resident and New Albany, IN native Lewis David Lamon, age 86, was born August 8, 1934 and died January 17, 2021 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville, TN. A United States Army veteran, retired Operations Manager from Cumberland Caverns, and a member of First Presbyterian Church, he was the son of the late Lewis Denbo and Evelyn Robinson Lamon. Mr. Lamon is survived by sister, Mary Ann Turner of Excelsior Springs, MO; niece, Sheryl L. Sharf of Corydon, IN; and friend, Kris Beckwith of McMinnville, TN. Lewis had a positive influence on many lives, both young and old. He rarely said anything negative about anyone. Lewis was a quiet and humble man, he wanted to be a part of the group, he was not afraid to express his opinions, but he was always a team player, and would go along with the majority. Lewis was a wealth of knowledge and information. He greatly enjoyed sharing his knowledge, but you had to ask him. He loved and admired the outdoors (caves, water, astronomy, trees, flowers, rocks, mountains, etc). Lewis had a great passion for food (even though he was a bad cook). He never turned down an invite for a good meal, and he always cleaned his plate. Lewis was extremely technically minded. He could read a book about something and use that knowledge to build or rebuild anything. Above all these things, there was one thing that topped them all... Lewis’s faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lewis read the Bible daily, attended and supported his church, and church family as best he could. Lewis never pushed his faith on anyone. He would talk to you about his beliefs for as long as you would listen. We will all miss his “Lewis isims”, his ice cream, his conversations. We will miss our friend. Mr. Lamon will be cremated. There will be no service or visitation at High’s. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Speleological Society, 6001 Pulaski Pike, Huntsville, AL 35810-1122. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com. High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
