Lt. Colonel (ret) Lynne R. Hamrick passed away at home surrounded by his family and loved ones on January 16th, 2023. He was born to the late Colonel (ret) Quinton and Doris Hamrick at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital, Aurora, Colorado, on June 20th, 1945. Lynne was a proud United States Air Force member for 26 years and a distinguished Vietnam veteran. Lynne served his country honorably and retired from military service on June 1st, 1993. He is survived by Cynthia Puckett Hamrick, his wife of 54 years; two children, Amy Brandon (Nathan) of Brentwood, TN, and Rob Hamrick (Alexa Todd) of Portland, Oregon; four grandchildren, Abby Brandon and Anna Lynne Brandon of Brentwood, TN, Gioia Hamrick and Ian Hamrick of Portland, Oregon; two brothers, Glynne Hamrick (Judy) of Hendersonville, TN and Wynne Hamrick (Peggy) of Stephenson, Alabama; father-in-law, Jack Puckett of McMinnville, TN and one sister-in-law, Patricia Puckett Callison (John) of Nashville, TN. In addition, four nephews and one niece survive him.
Lynne graduated from Trinity University, San Antonio,TX, and enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served with the Air Force Advisory Command Vietnam. Lynne served in the USAF Mars Command and the US Space Command during his career. Additionally, Lynne served his nation and community as a long-time amateur radio operator where he met many friends. He was a member of the McMinnville Exchange Club and like his father, Lynne was a dedicated Al Menah Shriner, Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McMinnville.
Lynne, better known as Da to his family, was a dedicated, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved playing golf in his spare time and could be found playing with his father-in-law, Jack Puckett. Lynne loved long bike rides and riding his bike at every opportunity. He was never without a smile, a kind gesture, and a willingness to lend a helping hand. He loved visiting Marco Island, Florida, beach walks, and bike rides through the island to check on the Gopher tortoises and the burrowing owls.
A memorial service will be conducted on January 19th at 1:00 pm at High Funeral Home with visitation held between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. A graveside service will be held immediately following at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville, TN with full military honors provided by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
