Madalyn Taylor Hillis

Rock Island, TN resident and Boyle County, KY native Madalyn Taylor Hillis, age 90, was born May 19, 1934 and died November 6, 2024 at The Neighborhood at Tellico Village in Loudon, TN following an extended illness. 

A homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Zachary Thomas and Idella Wilson Taylor. She was married to Walter Leon Hillis on August 31, 1957 who preceded her in death on October 8, 2022. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J.W. Taylor and Darrell Taylor, and three sisters, Frances Russell, Edith Reed and Virginia Taylor.

Mrs. Hillis is survived by sons, Irving (Leslie) Hillis of Loudon, TN, Kevin (Jan) Hillis of Chattanooga, TN and Walter (Suzanne) Hillis, III of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Erin Leigh Born, Zackary Walker Hillis, Katie Taylor Hillis, Kellie Ann Hillis, Nathan Robert Hillis, Isaac Walter Hillis and Madalyn Elizabeth Hillis; great-grandchild, Annie Jane Born, two brothers, William L. Taylor of Monticello, KY and Marlin Lee (Karen) Taylor of Danville, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN with Steve Lusk, Jay Reed, and Walter Hillis, III officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at High’s.
