Nashville resident and Warren County native, Mary Ellen Yager passed away December 24, 2021 at the age of 89. Born May 18, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Edward N. and Frankie Hobson Yager. She was also preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and A.J. (Jack) Ingle, Jr. and Betty and W.S. (Bill) Lively, Jr; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Jo Yager; niece, Betty Lynn Yager York; and great-nephew, W.S. (Spencer) Lively, IV. Miss Yager attended McMinnville City Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1950. Attending Middle Tennessee State College (now University) from 1950-1952, she transferred to George Peabody College (now of Vanderbilt University) from where she received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in 1954. Miss Yager then became a teacher and administrator for thirty-three years with McMinnville City Schools and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools from where she retired in 1987. Survivors include her niece, Sally I. Turner; nephew, W.S. (Buddy) Lively, III, both of McMinnville; Edward (Cheryl) Yager, IV of Readyville, TN; great-niece and nephews, Jennifer Turner and Sam Turner, both of McMinnville and Christopher York of Knoxville, TN; great-great nieces and nephew, Terian (Jacob) Roller, Mary-Ella Lee, both of McMinnville, and Zackary Patton of Cookeville, TN. Funeral services to be held in High’s Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 16, 2022. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with Rev.
