Mary Price Hill

Mrs. Mary Price Hill, 87, was the loving wife of 58 years to the late Dr. James P. Hill. She entered into rest on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

Mary was born in McComb, Mississippi on May 21, 1937. She was the youngest of three children born to the late Cooper and Iva Price. Mary Lynn, as she was called growing up, was born at home and weighed only 3 pounds. She was adored by her parents and her two older brothers Ray and Bill. She met and married Jim in 1959 and the following year they welcomed their only child Michele. Mary worked to put Jim through dental school, and they eventually settled in Augusta, where they lived for 50 years. Mary started her new life in Washington State with her family in 2019 where she lived until her passing.

She was greatly loved and cherished by her whole family and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her great grandchildren. Mary was an avid bird enthusiast and gardener and spent many days on her porch visiting with friends, neighbors and the neighbors pets. Mary adopted her tabby cat Minnie and spoiled her rotten as she did all animals. In the 6 years that Mary lived in Washington, she made many friends as she was kind and generous to everyone. Her southern charm was always on display, and she never met a stranger. Her friends affectionately referred to her as the Georgia peach. She had a wonderful sense of humor that her daughter only discovered when she moved to Washington. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but she is having a blessed reunion with her loved ones who preceded her and enjoying her rewards in heaven.

Family members include her daughter, Michele Garrett and son-in-law, Richard Garrett of Richland, WA; grandchildren, Branden Garrett (Laura) of Richland, WA, Ben Garrett (Kylie) of West Richland, WA and Ivy Garrett of Kirkland, WA and great grandchildren, Colbie Garrett, Cooper Garrett, Micah Garrett and Lukas Garrett.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son in Augusta, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M., at the funeral home. 

Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Hebron Cemetery in McMinnville, TN. No service or visitation will be held at High’s. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
