Master Chief Clarence “Yogi” Thrower, USN Retired, age 83, a McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County native was born January 13, 1937 and passed May 22, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford following an extended illness. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran where he served 3 tours in Vietnam as a Master Chief on the USS Constellation. He was the son of the late Leroy Northcutt and Mamie Tanner Thrower. He was also preceded in death by wife, Louisette Thiennot Thrower. Mr. Thrower is survived by children, Neva (Barry) Nelson, Tina (Jeffrey) Hobbs, Cyndi (Brad) Cantrell, and David (DeeDee) Thrower all of McMinnville; grandchildren, Kyle (Ashley) Hobbs, Derek (Ashley) Hobbs, Nick (Sarah) Cantrell, Laura (Cody) Smartt all of McMinnville, Megan (Jon) Paz of Loudon, TN, Nathan (Caitlin) Cantrell of Murfreesboro, Erica (Dillon) Tubb of Murfreesboro and Michael Thrower of Columbia, KY; great-grandchildren, Alec, Felecity, Natalie, Loralie, Sky, Kylee, Ella Jane, Knox, Kannon, Kase, Ezra, and Corbin; several nieces, nephews, family members and friends also survive. A private graveside service will be held for family only. No visitation will be held at High’s.
