Nashville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Matthew Smith Wallace, age 41, was born September 17, 1980 and died February 3, 2022 at his residence following a sudden illness. An Operation Iraqi Freedom 3 veteran of the Tennessee Army National Guard, he was the son of David Wallace of McMinnville, TN and the late Sharon Pennington Wallace. He was deployed with the 278th ACR Tennessee Army National Guard as a specialist from 2004 until 2005 and as a platoon leader from 2009 until 2010. In addition to his father, Mr. Wallace is survived by brother, Sam Wallace of Nashville, TN; sister, Shanna Wallace of Knoxville, TN; paternal grandfather, Calvin Wallace of McMinnville, TN; three aunts, Celia Womack of Rock Island, TN, Janet Bouldin of McMinnville, TN, and Karen Pennington of Sarasota, FL and numerous cousins. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022 in High’s Chapel with Chaplain Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville, TN. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s. Full military honors will be administered by the Tennessee Army National Guard Honor Guard, American Legion Post 173 Honor Guard and VFW Post 5064 Honor Guard. The family requests that any military veterans attending, please wear dress uniform. A reception, following the service, for those that wish to attend will be at the National Guard Armory located at 106 Security Circle, McMinnville, TN 37110.
