Miles "Bub" Dunlap

Miles "Bub" Dunlap, 77, of Rock Island, Tennessee, passed away on February 17, 2025 following a short illness. He was born on January 31, 1948 in McMinnville, Tennessee to the late Lee and Wilma Dunlap.  

Bub was a retired truck driver who took pride in his work and enjoyed the open road. He was known for his kindness, humor, and deep love for his grandchildren. He never met a stranger and had a way of making those around him feel welcome. He found joy in the simple moments.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his three siblings, Judy Smartt, Donna McBride and Dewey Barton Dunlap and great-niece, Layla Miles.  

Bub is survived by his wife of 23 years, Maymie “Ruthie” Dunlap. Also, he is survived by his children, Dale (Mallory) Dunlap and Crystal (Darrin) Dunlap DeLong; Jason Conry and Angela (Charles) Lawler; grandchildren, Laura, Walker, Anna Claire, Riley, River, Lillie Ann, Liam, Sawyer, Charley (Dustin) and Wade and great-grandchildren, Dallas and Grayson. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces, Abby (Wayne) Barnes and Dana (Matt) Carson, along with many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.  

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 23, 2025 from noon until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. in High's Chapel. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. In place of flowers, please make donations to Shriner’s Children's Hospital or Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. 

Bub will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for his friends and grandchildren. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in those who knew and loved him.
