Murlene Reed Marttala

Murlene Reed Marttala, age 87, a McMinnville, TN resident and Portsmouth, Ohio native was born May 4, 1934 and died June 26, 2021 at Willow Branch Health and Rehab in McMinnville, TN following an extended illness. She was a retired college clerical secretary, a member of First Presbyterian Church, and the daughter of the late Jess and Dora Mae Middleton Reed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Norman William Marttala; daughter, Cynthia Galumbeck; and brother, Simon Reed. Mrs. Marttala is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David and Susan Marttala of McMinnville, TN; five grandchildren, Shelby, Will, and Lilly Marttala, Alix Galumbeck and Bryn Galumbeck; brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Martha Reed of Ohio, and Phil and Joyce Reed of Pennsylvania; and son-in-law, Matthew Galumbeck of Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2021 at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville with Jimmy Lancaster officiating. No visitation will be held at High’s. Friends are to meet at cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Magness Library.
