Warren County resident Nora Belle Woods Chambers, age 92, was born on March 25, 1928, to A.O. and Bertha Elrod Woods who preceded her in death. She passed away following a short illness at NHC on May 1, 2020. She was preceded in death her husband J.L. Chambers whom she married on December 23, 1948; by sisters Maggie Woods Hennessee and Mable Woods Rascoe, and niece Rebecca Wood. Nora Belle and J.L. were charter members of Westwood Church of Christ. They were both avid Vanderbilt Commodore fans and enjoyed many outdoor activities together until his passing in 2005. Nora Belle enjoyed volunteer work including teaching her 5-year-old Sunday school class for more than 25 years, being a “Pink Lady” at River Park Hospital and working in the Clothing Give-away program at her church. She loved bowling and participated in many tournaments in Tennessee and out of state. She enjoyed cross-stitching and took pride in growing roses often giving them away to others for special occasions. She is survived by brothers-in-law Myron (Judy) Chambers of Spring Hill, TN, and Byron (Carol) Chambers of McMinnville; nieces Linda Hennessee Walker of McMinnville, Karen Hennessee (Mike) Phillips of Clarksville, Cathy Norrod Hennessee of Murfreesboro, Jenny Norrod (John) Endicott of Marietta, Georgia; nephews David Hennessee of McMinnville, Bobby Chambers (Teresa) of Muncie, Indiana, Richard Norrod of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Brad Norrod of McMinnville; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Westwood Church of Christ, 511 Morrison St., McMinnville, TN 37110. A private graveside service and interment will be held for family only. No visitation will be held at High’s.
