Patricia Burton Brown

February 26, 1938 — October 12, 2021

Patricia Burton Brown, Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother, was born at the Homestead in Crossville on February 26, 1938, to the late Rozell and Victor Burton and died at home surrounded by family on October 12, at the age of 83. She had an unwavering faith in God and was a founding member of Christ’s Family Church. Patricia was raised in Algood and studied accounting at Tennessee Tech before marrying her lifelong love, Robert (Bob) Brown on June 6, 1959. Together they enjoyed water and snow skiing as well as traveling and were fortunate to visit many countries around the world, but they always considered family to be their biggest blessing. Pat was devoted to her family. She loved her children and was always there to listen, encourage, and give advice. In addition, she was “Momma Brown” to many of her children’s friends and enjoyed having young people in her home. Together Pat and Bob raised their family in the loving fellowship at Westwood Church of Christ, hosting numerous Bible studies and youth events in their home. Always a gracious hostess, Pat and Bob enjoyed entertaining and were known for the numerous parties including events at Rattlesnake Resort and at Castlewood, New Year’s Eve parties, cookouts and even the occasional crawdad boil or snipe hunt, as well as countless nights of playing cards with their dearest friends. Pat loved flowers and was a longtime member and served in various positions in the Ben Lomand Garden Club and the Lt. James Sheppard Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution as well as a member of First Families of Tennessee and the Jamestown Society, where her ancestor, Cicely Jordan Farrar, was one of the first female landholders in the U.S. Pat is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Franklin Brown, her three children, Mark (Beth) Brown of McMinnville, Sherrie (John) Brown Cavin of Brentwood, and Christy (Wendell) Brown of Brentwood, 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Burton. Pat’s family would like to share their gratitude to Regina, Peggy, Paige and Crosley who cared for her like family and allowed Pat to stay in her home until her passing. The family will receive visitors at Christ’s Family Church, 2285 South Chancery Street on Friday, October 15th, from 4 to 8 p.m. They kindly request that all guests wear masks. A private service will be held at the family cemetery on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ’s Family Church - Families in Need Fund, P.O. Box 643, McMinnville, TN 37111 or Ben Lomand Garden Club c/o Jeanine Jacobs, 2206 Westlake Avenue, Monteagle, TN 37356. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
