Paulette Jennings "Mammy" Basham

November 10, 1947 — September 19, 2020

Paulette Jennings “Mammy” Basham Centertown, TN resident, and Warren County, TN native, Paulette Jennings “Mammy” Basham, age 72, was born on November 10, 1947, and went to Heaven on September 19, 2020, at her residence following an extended illness. Her devotion to her family and her unwavering faith in God gave her peace throughout her battle. A homemaker and a retired school bus driver, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Beulah Jennings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Teddy Ray Jennings. Paulette was married to the love of her life, John Alfred Basham, on October 26, 1962, who survives. She is also survived by son, Rodney (Tena) Basham of McMinnville, TN; daughter, Tina Basham of McMinnville, TN; granddaughters, Brittany and Lindsey Basham of McMinnville, TN; two brothers, Jessie (Lois) Jennings and Houston Jennings of McMinnville, TN; special aunt, Barbara Nunley of McMinnville, TN; and dedicated best friend, Brenda Holland of McMinnville, TN. Several other friends and family also survive. Paulette loved people. She sewed and was constantly into something new. Her hands were rarely still. She was a lady of many talents and hobbies some of which included gardening, baking, singing, crafting, helping John at the Farmer’s Market, church events, and puppet making. She loved babies and children and enjoyed nurturing her family and friends. Paulette was the definition of a Proverbs 31 woman. She loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, with all her heart and she was baptized in His name on May 16, 1965. Though she was a humble and gentle woman, she was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior, and heaven only knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, friends, and world. She was a dedicated member of the First Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith for 50 years where she enjoyed working in the kitchen, being a former Sunday school teacher, and praying many souls through to the Holy Ghost. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32- “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God who forgave you.” The family would like to extend a special appreciation to Pastor Jason & Patricia Nunley and beloved friend, Brenda Holland. A special thank you to Avalon Hospice and Tennessee Oncology.
