Peggy Ann Akers passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024 in McMinnville, Tennessee. She was born on April 30, 1937 to the late William Stokley and Bertha Lee Holder Akers of Centertown, Tennessee. A graduate of Centertown High School, Peggy traveled extensively for many years working within the Indian Health Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service. Upon retirement from the federal government, she settled in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to be near her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Treesa Lynn Allmon; sisters, Euna Juanita Akers, Elwanda Akers Martin, and Irma Akers Locke and brothers, Bernel Orion “Rooster” Akers and William Stokley “Red” Akers, Jr. She is survived by daughters, Jackie Allmon of McKinney, Texas and Barbara (Cortez) Allmon Waters of Nowata, Oklahoma; son, Ken Allmon of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; grandchildren, Beau Justin Jones, Jonathan Aric Allmon, Hannah D Allmon, Sean Dale Duke, and Ken Allmon, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Kyra Allmon and Aurora Novella Crunk; sisters, Genay Thompson of Irving, Texas and Eulene (Jimmy) Ferrell of Nashville, Tennessee and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive. Per Peggy’s wishes, she was cremated, and she will be interred in Centertown Cemetery between her two loving brothers at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.highfuneralhome.com.
