Rachel Louise Wood Pickett

McMinnville, TN resident and Washington County, AL native Rachel Louise Wood Pickett, age 81, was born September 15, 1939 and died August 30, 2021 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville, TN following an extended illness. A retired waitress from Waffle House and a member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Ruth Jones Wood. She was married to Herbert Eugene “Gene” Pickett on May 10, 1973 who preceded her in death on July 24, 2016. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother, Roy J. Wood and sisters, Betty Jo Jacobs and Norma Jean Hansert. Mrs. Pickett is survived by seven sons and daughters-in-law, Dujuan and Diane Keele of McMinnville, TN, Dale and Regina Keele of Manchester, TN, Dennis and Felicia Keele of Beech Grove, TN, Chris and Deanna Keele of McMinnville, TN, Anthony Pickett of Columbus, GA, Timothy and Rhonda Pickett of Raleigh, NC, and Jeffery Pickett of McMinnville, TN; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Velma Brown of Lucedale, MS; brother, Bill Wood of Fayetteville, TN; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021 in High’s Chapel with Ronnie Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Center Hill Cemetery at Hills Creek in Warren County, TN.
