Rachel Stewart Boatman, age 91, a McMinnville, TN resident and Edinburgh, Scotland native, was born June 15, 1929 and died February 2, 2021 at her residence following a sudden illness. She was a telephone operator with the British Air Force, the owner of ABC Daycare Center, where she still had a special place in her heart for her daycare children, and past owner of The Book Nook. Mrs. Boatman was the daughter of the late David and Sarah Norris Stewart. She married Charles Thurman Boatman on February 4, 1954 who preceded her in death in 2019. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters Elizabeth Dredge and Sarah Stewart. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles-Young and Carol Boatman of Louisville, KY, and David and Aleta Boatman of McMinnville, TN; two grandchildren, Cody Myers and Rhiannon Myers both of McMinnville, TN; two great-grandchildren, Rozzlyn Myers and Brodie Myers both of McMinnville, TN; sister-in-law, Gail Boatman of Moorestown, N.J.; and special friend and caregiver, Beth Freeman of McMinnville, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service and interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville, TN with Pastor Sommer Worley officiating. Family and friends are to meet at cemetery. No visitation will be held at High’s. The family request that everyone wear mask and practice social distancing at the cemetery.
