Rebecca Sue Surles

McMinnville, TN resident and Old Hickory, TN native Rebecca "Becky" Sue Surles, age 83, was born January 25, 1940 (the day the lake froze over) and died January 28, 2023 at home, surrounded by her loved ones, following an extended illness.

A retired employee of Procon Products in Murfreesboro, TN and a member of Westwood Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Clyde Smith.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Smith.

Her kind heart and welcoming smile made a lasting impression on everyone she met.  Her impeccable score keeping during card games will not be forgotten.  It's safe to say, with her as your partner, you were on the winning team.

She was the definition of a virtuous woman and devoted Christian.  The love she had for her family was endless and will continue to comfort them in days to come.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Carl; son, Wayne (Angie) Surles of McMinnville; granddaughter, Monica Knight of Rock Island, TN; grandson, Trey (Breanna) Surles of Smyrna, TN; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Brayden and Landon Knight, Ryland, Kason, Camron and Ethan Holder and Ellery Surles; brother, Charles (Rose) Smith of Cincinnati, OH and sister, Mary Carlson of Madison, TN.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2023 in High's Chapel with Tim Deason officiating.  Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory Mausoleum.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday and 11:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at High's.

The family would like to thank NHC Healthcare McMinnville and NHC Home Health, as well as Caris Hospice of Cookeville, TN for their outstanding care of Nanny over the last several months.
