Samuel Keith Kuykendall

Samuel Keith Kuykendall of McMinnville, TN, age 86, passed away suddenly at home on September 2, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Charlotte Kuykendall. He is survived by wife Patsy Ann Sims Kuykendall, brother James (Janet) Kuykendall of Cookeville, son Mark (Libby) Kuykendall of McMinnville, grandchildren Noah, Allie Shaye, Heath, and Eli Kuykendall all of McMinnville, and several nieces and nephews. He was owner/operator of Kuykendall Nursery with his wife and son, served briefly in the National Guard, was a member of Middle Tennessee Nursery Association, TNLA , and was a member of the church of Christ. Sam was a graduate of Tennessee Tech University in mechanical engineering. After graduating and marrying his wife, he worked several different jobs in his long career, including work on the Apollo space project, working for Honeywell, and finally as an engineer with Powermatic for over 30 years before retiring to start Kuykendall Nursery with his spouse and son. He served as a deacon at Westwood Church of Christ for many years. Sam was known for his mild-mannered personality and kind smile. He loved working with his hands and could take apart and rebuild most machines. He was a devoted husband and caregiver to his wife of 60 years. He supported his family in all their endeavors and loved watching his grandchildren play sports. He was blessed to be extremely active and in good health until the day of his death. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Graveside service and interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 5, 2022 at Mt. View Cemetery with Mark Parkhurst Officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at High Funeral Home. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the 10:00 a.m. graveside service.
