McMinnville resident and Davidson County, TN native Samuel Walton Crowder, age 77, was born November 11, 1946 and died December 15, 2023 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville. A retired regional sales manager with Black & Decker for over 30 years, he was the son of the late Clarence and Corra Crowder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Fred Crowder, Christine Robinson, Hilda Kemp and Hazel Cox. Mr. Crowder is survived by two children, Teneara (Jay) Herzog of Peachtree City, GA and Trace (Jenny) Crowder of McMinnville; nine grandchildren, Chase (Sarah) Herzog, Gabrielle (Grant) Gregory, Hayes Herzog, Christopher Romero, Lexi Crowder, Zachary Crowder, Autumn Romero, Savannah Crowder and Noelle Romero; sister, Myra Allen of Union City, GA and numerous nieces and nephews. Sam was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. He had a passion for the game of golf, playing the guitar, and collecting National Geographic magazines. He was blessed with a sharp intellect finishing daily crossword puzzles and beating most in a game of Trivial Pursuit. His creative sense of humor is what made you smile, laugh and stay around for a while. He had a kind heart and enjoyed his days volunteering at Habitat for Humanity. He was eager to always hear your stories and give you a compliment when you spent time with him. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024 in High’s Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
