Sara Josiphene Cummings

Boiling Springs, SC resident and Van Buren County, TN native Sara Josiphene Cummings, age 93, was born June 8, 1929 and died September 20, 2022 at White Oak Estates in Spartanburg, SC following a brief illness. A retired beautician, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Mary Guy McCormack. She was married to the late David L. Cummings who preceded her in death in 1979. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, David Clark Cummings and Dennis Keith Cummings; five sisters, Joene Hodges (Herman), Hassie Grissom (Tom), Reba McCormack, Opal Horton (Lee-Roy) and Olene Paugh (Carl); brother, John (Patti Sue) McCormick and brother-in-law, Dean Grant. Ms. Cummings is survived by son, Robert Douglas (Karen) of Boiling Springs, SC; daughter, Susan Cummings of Oakland, FL; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Ava Dean Grant of Las Vegas, NV; nieces and nephews and two daughters-in-law, Marnie Cummings of Sanford, FL and Scarlett Cummings of Greenbrier, TN. Graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2022 at Long Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN. Visistation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at High's.
