Sarah Lorena Martin Hillis

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Sarah Lorena Martin Hillis, age 98, was born November 23, 1923 and died January 3, 2022 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville, TN following following a short illness. A homemaker and member of East End Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Ella Millraney Martin, Sr. She was married to M.B. Hillis on March 9, 1946 who preceded her in death on March 1, 2008. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Edna Curtis, Jessie Gillentine, Gladys Walker, and Willie May Martin and brother, Woodrow Martin. Mrs. Hillis is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Bob Young of Rock Island, TN; two grandchildren, Chris Young and Blane and Marisa Young, both of Rock Island, TN; four great-grandchildren, Logan Young, Dillon Young, Colton Young, and Lucas Young; two sisters, Martha Martin of West Virginia and Juanita King of McMinnville, TN; two brothers and sister-in-law, Sam Martin, Jr. and Harold and Claudia Martin, both of McMinnville, TN; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Warren County, TN with Ray Weddington officiating. There will be no service or visitation at High’s. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels.
