McMinnville resident and Warren County native Seabert Price Cox, age 92, was born April 25, 1932 and died January 14, 2025 at his residence following a brief illness. 

A former employee of Caterpillar, Inc and owner of many businesses including a local nursery, he was the son of the late John Richard and Maggie Mae Basham Cox. He was married to Mary Elsie McCormack Cox on December 26, 1951 who preceded him in death on July 24, 2019. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two children, Melba Herriman and Ophia Annette Cox; great-grandson, Gaige Thomas Tanner; two sisters, Betty Myers and Mary E. Bunch and six brothers, Lloyd, Joe, Paul, Donald Ross, Allen and Wayne Cox. 

Mr. Cox is survived by four children, Patricia (Marvin) Durre of Morrison, TN, Mildred (David) Myers of Bolivar, TN and Seabert LaRay (Nae) Cox and John Thomas Cox, both of McMinnville; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and one on way; twelve great-great-grandchildren; six siblings, Lena Sue (Herbert) Perryman of Shelbyville, TN and Edna Hayes, Lucille Bunch, Charlotte Fitts, Barbara Jane (Ronnie) George and Rickey (Mary Ann) Cox, all of McMinnville and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2025 in High’s Chapel with David Lance officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
