Sharon Elaine Dunlap Bennett, 70, passed away peacefully on Jan. 12 at her home in the Midway community. Mrs. Bennett was born June 9, 1950 in McMinnville to the late Carl Eugene Dunlap and Imogene Inez Jones Dunlap. She was married to Michael Terry Bennett on Jan. 3, 1970 who preceded her in death in 2012. Sharon was a homemaker, a giver, a doer, and a servant to those she knew and loved. She was a Christian and served as a Sunday school teacher to the littles for years. She was a member of Central Church of Christ. Sharon loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She was a wonderful cook, a talented gardener, and the lover of a good bargain. She was an avid reader and a collector of all things. Sharon was never without a purse full of peppermints she would offer to anyone she thought may need one. She enjoyed her monthly club meetings at Midway FCE. She loved to travel with her brother and sister everywhere they could. She is survived by her children Angie (Greg) Carter of Rock Island, Kelly (Brittany) Bennett of Murfreesboro, and Tracy (Marlena) Bennett of Rock Island; grandchildren Hayden, Holden, and Henslea Carter, Delaney and Ellery Bennett, and Emma, Kenzy, Rylee, Journey, and Sawyer Bennett; sister, Gail (Carl) Keel; brother, Rick (Michele) Dunlap; nieces, Amy Whitsett and Lauren Emerson; and nephews, Chad Keel and Zach Blakeley. She was also loved by several great nieces and nephews sharing a special bond with great nephew Owen Whitsett. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2021 in High's Chapel with Amy Whitsett and Kevin Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow in Old Bybee Chapel Cemetery in Rock Island. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at High's. Family request that everyone wear mask and practice social distancing.
