Shirley Jane Starkey

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native, Shirley Jane Starkey, age 81, was born January 17, 1941 and died September 5, 2022 at her residence following an extended illness. A retired office manager from Allstate Insurance and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, she was the daughter of the late Herman B. and Minnie Wood Black. She was married to Paul Starkey of McMinnville, TN on August 25, 1957. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Lucille Hudson and four brothers, Benny Black, John Black, Michael Black and Freddy Black. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Starkey is survived by four children, Paul (Debbie) Starkey, Jr. of McMinnville, TN, Teressa (Mark) Sullivan of Spencer, TN and Mike (Hilda) Starkey and Melissa (Daniel) Campbell both of McMinnville, TN; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; five brothers, William (Teresa) Black, David Black, Richard (Jennene) Black and Gary (Linda) Black all of McMinnville, TN and Roger (Jean) Black of Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters, Peggy (James) Earls of McMinnville, TN and Betty (Walter) Griffith of Smithville, TN and three sisters-in-law, Nadine Black, Joy Black and Linda Black all of McMinnville, TN. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022 in High’s Chapel with Rick Lyles and Daniel Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Faulkner Cemetery @ Pike Hill in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at High Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
