Thomas Chandler

Mr. Thomas Chandler, age 79 of McMinnville, TN, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center surrounded by his adoring family.

Mr. Chandler was born September 9, 1945 in Warren County, TN to parents, Conard and Hazel Simmons Chandler of Doyle who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by nephew, Greg Turner and niece, Tanya Turner Hall.

Tom was a retired nurseryman, farmer and businessman and he continued his love of farming up until his brief illness. He had a lifelong dream of owning a home in Daytona Beach, FL, which he accomplished and spent every spring and fall there for eighteen years. Tom loved his classmates and the Class of 1963, his old “home place” and most of all his precious family. Thomas was saved July 10, 1966 and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan Christine Jones Chandler of McMinnville; daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Ricky Morton of McMinnville; grandchildren, Kayla (John) Wilson, Mitchell (Rachel) Morton and Gracie Beth Morton all of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Weston Morton, Beckett and Baylor Kate Wilson all of McMinnville; sister, Carolyn Chandler Turner of Murfreesboro, TN; sister-in-law, Phyllis Jones Martin of McMinnville; nephew, Ty Turner and nieces, Renee Turner Wells, Lori (Tim) Jernigan and Dana (Jeremy) Woodside.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in High’s Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at High’s.
