Tommy Lynn Powell

Rock Island, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Tommy Lynn Powell, age 68, was born May 24, 1953 and died February 22, 2022 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville, TN following a sudden illness. A truck driver with JB Hunt and a member of Church of Christ at Blue Springs Cove, he was the son of the late Frank and Dorothy Mullican Powell. He was married to Angel Powell of Rock Island on March 6, 1981. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Patty Hobbs and brother, James “Jim” Crim. In addition to his wife, Mr. Powell is survived by children, Mark Powers and Mandy Powell (Dennis), both of McMinnville, TN and Sherry (Greg) Waldron of Morrison, TN; twelve grandchildren, Jackson Powers, Macie Powers, Tayler Womack, Gabriel Womack, Sara Womack, Seth Meeks, Matthew Meeks, Blake Waldron, Dawson Waldron, Brantley Waldron, Ellesyn Waldron and Carly Newby; five great-grandchildren, Greyson, Karter, Hazel, Grey and Landry; brother, Gary (Elaine) Powell of McMinnville, TN; sister-in-law, Janice Crim of McMinnville, TN; brothers-in-law, Gary (Denise) Newby of Rock Island, TN, David (Denise) Newby of Rome, GA, Willie (Donna) Newby of McMinnville, TN, Manie (Rena) Newby of Rock Island, TN and Larry Hobbs of McMinnville, TN; special uncle, Henry Mullican of Sparta, TN and uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family members. Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022 in High’s Chapel with Gary Newby and David Newby officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
