Verna Aline West of McMinnville, TN passed away on September 8, 2021 at age 91 after a brief battle with cancer. Mrs. West was born in McMinnville to the late James Roy and Mary Lou Roller Bost. In addition to her parents, Mrs. West was preceded in death by brothers Willie Bost, John Bost, Julius Bost, Marshall Bost, Clarence Bost, sisters Lila Mae Couch, Evelyn McCormick, Myrtle Bost, Imogene Hamby. Mrs. West married the love of her life, Clarence West, in September 1948 who preceded her in death in May 2008. Mrs. West was a member of Newtown The Baptist Church of Christ. Mrs. West started employment at Molloy’s Dry Cleaners at the age of 14 and later retired from Rockford Textile Mill. The job she never retired from was being a devoted wife and companion to her husband. You could always find the Wests working side by side on their farm or in the nursery. Mrs. West was known by her sweet smile and her kindness to everyone. She was a giver and helped anyone who needed assistance. Mrs. West had a green thumb and loved sharing her gift of growing flowers and plants. Her favorite place was her yard with its abundance of trees, bushes, plants, and flowers. Mrs. West loved her family most of all especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they loved their Granny or Ma as she was known. She loved spending time with her family including cookouts and her signature dishes were banana pudding, cheesecake, and sweet tea. Mrs. West is survived by daughters Patricia (Larry) Stubblefield of McMinnville and Mary (Buddy) Reed of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Amanda (Patrick) Johnson of Readyville, Eddie (Racheal) Reed III of McMinnville, Matthew (Tonya) Stubblefield of Doyle, and Benjamin (Talesha) Reed of Cookeville; five great-grandchildren, Waylon Johnson, Clarence Johnson, Porter Johnson, Piper Reed, and Serenity Woodlee; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 Saturday, September 11, 2021 at High’s Chapel with Frank Randolph and Dwight Knowles officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021 and from 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, September 11, 2021.
