Vickie Sue Mayes

Vickie Sue Mayes was born September 7, 1959 to J.W. “Willie” and Bobbie Johnson Mayes and died at her home on April 3, 2025 surrounded by her loyal caregivers, Royce and Billy Wayne Cothren, other family and special longtime friend, Debra McBride.

In addition to her parents, Vickie was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jimmy Lynn Mayes, who was born and died on April 3, 1949, a sister, Beverly Ann Mayes, who passed away in 1998, and a companion, Barry Haston. Vickie was fond of her uncles, aunts and cousins who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by many cousins and their extended families.

Vickie enjoyed farm life and loved all animals. She dealt with the debilitating disease, Muscular Dystrophy, for many years. She never let these disabilities weaken her spirit or dampen her love of family and farm life.

Honoring Vickie’s request, she was cremated. She also requested no visitation and no funeral service. Her wishes were granted, and her ashes were buried with her immediate family members at Smyrna Cemetery in Warren County Tennessee.
