Virginia Slatton Hammer

Virginia Slatton Hammer, age 90, a Warren County, TN resident and native was born October 10, 1928 and passed away August 4, 2019 at her residence following an extended illness. She was a homemaker, member of Central Church of Christ and daughter of the late Julius Caesar and Rowena Cope Slatton. Mrs. Hammer was married September 6, 1946 to Edwin C. “Tack” Hammer who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother, J.C. Slatton; sister, Clydie Slatton; step-brother, Thomas M. Bragg; and step-sister, Rhea Boyd. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Jimmy Martin of Naples, FL and Debbie and Joey Jacobs of Brentwood, TN; four grandchildren, Amanda (Ross) Robinson of Mobile, AL, Lesley Martin of Dallas, TX, Brent (Katie) Jacobs of Franklin, TN and Scott Jacobs of Brentwood; four great-grandchildren, Stewart Thames IV, Madeline Martin Thames, Emmaline Jacobs and Joey Kate Jacobs; and two sisters-in-law, Flo Slatton of McMinnville, TN and Janie Bragg of Nashville, TN. Graveside service and interment will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2019 in Mt. View Cemetery with Julian Goodpaster to officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at High’s. Memorial contributions may be made to the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund, PO Box 111180, Nashville, TN 37222-1180.
