Walter Samuel "Sammy" Chapman

McMinnville resident and Bessemer, AL native Walter Samuel “Sammy” Chapman, age 77, was born November 17, 1947 and died March 8, 2025 at Willow Branch Health and Rehabilitation following an extended illness.

A former employee with the State of Florida and retired employee of Magnetek, he was the son of the late, Billy and Doris Booth Chapman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Cornelius Chapman and Edward Chapman and sister, Linda Chapman.

Mr. Chapman is survived by son, Tony Chapman of McMinnville; daughters, Stacy West and Stephanie Chapman both of McMinnville; grandchildren, Spencer Chapman, Christian Leverett, Christopher Leverett, Emily Burns, Casey West and Collin West; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2025 at Shellsford Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at High’s.
