Waymon Henderson Hale

June 17, 1953 — February 25, 2025

McMinnville

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Waymon Henderson Hale, age 71, was born June 17, 1953 and died February 25, 2025 at Webb House Retirement Center following an extended illness.

He was the owner of Waymon Hale Construction Company and son of the late George and Katherine Douglas Hale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by foster parents, Marion T. Hillis and Jessie Hillis; son, Clint Hale; sisters, Georgia Mae (Paul) Jones and Della (Eddie) Bates and brother, Sam (Carolyn) Hale.

Mr. Hale was married June 29, 1973 to Melba Jean Hale of McMinnville who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Mark (Karissa) Hale of McMinnville; grandchildren, Emilee Hale and Hence Hale; brothers, Jewell (Matilda) Hale and Glen (Pamela) Hale both of McMinnville and Melvin Hale of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

Waymon was a man of the humblest beginnings who through hard work and perseverance became one of the most respected builders and developers in our area. His life is the story of the American Dream. He loved to work from dawn to dusk, and looked forward to ending his day with Mel, his sweetheart for life. He loved his two sons and taught them the value of hard work, the value of a dollar, and the importance of a man’s word.

He loved the people that he built relationships with over the 40 years while in business. We will never forget his strong handshake, his boyish smile and his infectious laughter.

His chair is under his desk; his light is off; the builder has gone home.
