Wayne Prater

Daylight Community resident and native Wayne Prater, age 76, was born March 7, 1948 and died February 1, 2025 at his residence following an extended illness.

A retired Quality Control Inspector with Nissan and a member of the Church of Christ at Unity, he was the son of the late Brown and Nannie Elizabeth Jordan Prater. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Marie (Charlie) Humphrey.

Mr. Prater is survived by his wife of 49 years, Olla Mae Prater of the Daylight Community; children, William Timothy “Tim” (Martha) Prater of Sparta, Chris (Jasmin) Prater of the Daylight Community, Tiffany Lashae Prater of McMinnville, and Kalyn (Warren) Swann of Murfreesboro; nineteen grandchildren; brother, Donnie (Johnnie Faye) Prater of Tracy City, TN and sisters, Sue (Kenneth) Burks and Patricia (Mike) Smartt, all of McMinnville.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in High’s Chapel with Brad Rawley and Brian Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at High’s  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monroe Carrell, Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
