Billy Bob BISHOP

Rock Island, TN resident and Van Buren County, TN native Billy Bob Bishop, age 74, was born November 20, 1937 and died July 12, 2012 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN following an extended illness. A retired painter and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Walter Mills and Mamie Melvira Hargrove Bishop, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Hennessee and Louise Nunley and two brothers, Elvin Bishop and James Monroe "Sonny" Bishop. He was married February 28, 2000 to Wilma Wilson Bishop of Rock Island, TN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sherry Newby of McMinnville; son, Billy Bob "B.J." Bishop, Jr. of McMinnville; two grandchildren; step-daughter, Deborah Rose of McMinnville; four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Walter "W.M." and Mary Ann Bishop, Jr. of McMinnville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elise and Jerry Killian of McMinnville and Juanita Wallene and Morris Scott of Rock Island, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012 in High's Chapel with Kevin Key officiating. Burial followed in the White Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County, TN.
